EDMONTON FIRE FIGHTERS HAVE A NEW 5 YEAR DEAL WITH THE CITY

The 1,308 firefighters who are members of Edmonton Fire Fighter Union Local 209 had been without a contract since Dec. 22, 2018. The new agreement that has been reached with the City of Edmonton is for 2018-2023 and the wage increases total 10.3 per cent. With population growth comes an increase in the number of calls to the city’s Edmonton Fire Rescue Services. Between 2018 and 2021 the call volume was about 55,000 calls per year, then increased to 80,000 calls in 2022 and about 95,000 calls in 2023 which Edmonton Fire Fighter Union Local 209 says justifies the increase.,
